Movies Happy Gilmore 2

Not too bad, solid 3/5. Could have been a lot worse.

Most of the cameos hit. Felt like there were too many callback jokes. John Daily was fantastic. Surprised at how much I liked the actual pro golfers.

Wanted more Shooter though, I find this (and the original) is better when focused on the side characters. Ben Stiller's character was a huge let down though. He was one of my favorite part of the original.

I liked the first half, it felt like it fit the world of Happy Gilmore. The final part was off the wall bonkers. I know the first one was unrealistic but at least it felt grounded in reality. The whole new golf tournament was just so unbelievable that it felt like a gimmick.

Watched it with my brothers and we laughed a lot so I can't complain too much. Worth the while.

I'm more inclined to see it now that I've read y'all's feedback. Most of what I've read from others has been negative, down the line of milking the nostalgia trend dry. Adam Sandler/Happy Madison was responsible for a lot of my favorites growing up as a teenage pothead, and y'all know how his movies were after a while. Grandma's Boy was the last one he made that really had me laughing the whole way through.

This was my sentiment as well. Once the new golf tournament started, it got less enjoyable.

Also, while all the callbacks were expected, the cuts to clips from the first movie seemed unnecessary. "Hey, remember this? Here, let us show you to jog your memory."

But overall it was a fun watch and about as good as you could hope for from a 30 years later sequel.

For the most part yeah, but Scottie Scheffler getting arrested again and staying in the jail was great (for the unknown the police in my city arrested him for some minor altercation due to a misunderstanding with a cop before the PGA championship)

Yeah a little too much on the callbacks, but worth a watch. I dont think I'll rewatch it, but I'll watch clips of Shooter reading and Scottie getting arrested

Someone described it like a high school reunion and it fits so well. Everyone is older, things aren't as funny or cool anymore, but it's a lot of fun catching up with old friends and acquaintances. Just don't expect it to be anything amazing, just a bunch of reminiscing and laughing at stupid jokes while ultimately not meaning much in everyone's lives.
