We're coming close to the end of the NES Round of the Great Video Game Draft so that means it's time to start getting ready for round 2: the Super Nintendo Entertainment System

So we have two orders of business in this thread.

1. Sign-ups

For this round we are going to hopefully expand the field to 12 competitors, as this round was highly anticipated by several people. I think we'll keep the game at 8 rounds, so that will mean we will try to select the top 96 entries of the 1757 game catalog (717 in North America).

Sign-ups will prioritize those who did not get a chance to play the first round, but if there's still room after a small grace period, I'll open it up to NES competitors as well.

2. Draft format

I feel like the standard draft format worked quite well for the NES Round, but to make sure everyone feels good about things, I've included a poll as to whether we stay the course, or switch to a Snake draft going forward.

In a Snake draft, the draft order is inverted each round, so the person who chooses last in round 1 will turn around and choose first in round 2, and so on.

Signed Up:
1. @Jon
2. @Ants!
3. @Cole
4. @Joseph Snapple
5. @Fire Queen
6. @Marlfox
7. @Local Hero
8. @TD
9. @Fool's Requiem
10. @Smacktard
11. @xDXxAscension

Man, I really want to join. But I also know what my picks are, and I want more to see what everyone else comes up with. So I'll stay out for now. If for some reason you have a hard time finding people, which I can't imagine you will, I'll jump in.
While I got you here, Mr Moderator, do you think when we get to the voting thread of the NES round, we could get it stuck so hopefully more people see it? Or would that be too much clutter at the top of the forum?

Yeah that's no problem.

Post it in the Voting Booth and then move it here with a redirect and so people in both places see it

Is the plan to put all 8 in one poll?
Or break it down a bit? Like 4 & 4 - then the top 2 from each in a final poll of 4?

I imagine 8 may be hard to sort through.

I'm in. If any if you pick Super Mario World before me...

Probably all 8 in one poll. I'll collate the rosters to clean things up a bit. Asking people to vote over and over again might be a bit much.

Picking between Chrono Trigger and FF6 would be really hard for me.
I have a weird relationship with FF6. It's not one of my favorite FFs but I can't figure out why. The music is objectively great, the pixel art is great, etc. It's like in my head I can see that all of the pieces are fantastic but the sum doesn't add up for me and I can't put my finger on why.

I do think the combat is not...great, and that may be why. Part of that might be because a lot of the intended rules are bugged and just don't work.

I think chrono trigger is amazing. Enough characters for different gaming experiences, but each character can be used in an endgame team. Many RPG just throw as many characters as they can into it, and most are useless unless you are a completionist. Each character has a full backstory too… also the music is top notch

I find it interesting because it's easily my fav FF and it's not even particularly close.

The FFVI GBA version is great too as it has even more content than the original release.

If you really want to try it - the best way now if you don't have SNES/the cartridge is either emulation or the pixel remaster on PS4/Switch.

I used to play lots of snes emulated on my laptop, however I don’t often find myself using my laptop anymore. My gaming and computer time is almost entirely my iPhone

I didn't have SNES as a kid, so my main experience with it was playing it at a friend's house, and so I was limited to the games he had. However, since I missed the NES train and since this looks like a ton of fun, I'll throw my hat in the ring. Sign me up! I am pretty familiar with what games were known to be good/classics, so it should be interesting to see how I do with less actual playing experience with them.

Also, I hope this doesn't hinder me getting to be a drafter for N64 when we get there. :)

I'll happily sit out the N64 one so big fans can get in. Never owned one only played 5 games at a friends.
Yeah the thing with N64 is that it has some great games, but really not that many. I bet people would struggle to even think of 64 decent games on the system. I wouldn't mind sitting it out either. I really wanna go for the GC one.
