Fire Pit Stuff and Adventures

so I know there's a few of us here who enjoy fire pits.

we got some ceramic skulls for ours recently. we thought they stayed in the fire and just burned all cool, they're slightly different, but basically they burn off a layer of something or other, and the charred skull is designed to collapse.

so that's as it started to burn, in person you could see the flames follow the contours of the teeth, or the eye/nose sockets.

this is after the top of the skull caved in and watching the flames like "erupt" from within was really cool.

we were hoping to just have ceramic skulls that stay in the fire all the time. instead now we have some thing we can get in October to use for Halloween since they're one time use.

still fun!

what other fun things do you guys have for fires?

I had no idea this was a thing. I always just put a shitload of wood into my fire pit.
oh we get lots of stuff.

there are these pouches you can buy that will change the color of the fire. we get pinecones that do the same thing but anyone can throw them in. we plan to get mosquito repellent starter logs (they just have natural scents that repel mosquitos).

the skulls were fun but I wanna find better ones.

Ooh, I need this. Mosquitoes think I'm extra delicious.
so far we've tried TIKI torches, but the fluid runs out FAST. we've tried these spirally long citronella candles, only last about 3.5 hours.

we're looking at some logs that can supposedly burn 6 hours just at the bottom of your fire. we wanna try that, especially because supposedly you can like "slice" it like bread and just use smaller chucks at a time.

Agreed on the torches, and they don't seem to work all that well. I usually resort to bathing in bug spray, which isn't ideal for all the obvious reasons. Lemme know how the logs work.

I wont use bug spray, can't stand the smell of the feel of it.

I'd rather just suffer.

though if these logs to work out, I wonder if I could just "bathe" in the smoke.
