Favourite Fight Scenes in films

We all saw a lot of these in our younger years, and probably since, so let's do this. I suggest we start with one that everyone will have seen and one slightly more obscure one.

I have a lot of Marvel options here, but I'm actually going to keep it really classic to begin with and turn to the Matrix. Should it be the first one? Probably, but on a rewatch I am so much fonder of the second and third films now than I was previously. So I'm going for the Great Hall fight.

And for the slightly more obscure, I'm going for Equilibrium. Yes, it's a little silly (though not as silly as the hallway fight directly before this), but I love the gun fight. And for those who have seen the film, the "Be careful Preston, you're treading on my dreams" line, repeating Sean Bean from earlier in the film, remains a favourite of mine. Really good film.

Kung Fu Hustle is the first thing that springs to mind. I just generally love how the movie is full of old Kung Fu movie actors that they brought back.

I do not know if this counts as a popular main-stream movie though... I'm thinking no.

EDIT: Have another more matrix-like fight.

John Wick 3: Parabellum, the "Knife Fight". Rarely have I hooted and/or hollared more in a fight scene than this ridiculous amazingness.

news.

When I think fight scenes, I think of John Carpenter's They Live, and the Really Long Fight.

One of my favorite South Park moments was the "Cripple Fight" where they straight up copied this scene. Such a good gag.

And the other one that comes directly to mind is Kill Bill Vol. 1, and the Bride vs the Crazy 88. For my money the best fight scene of all time.

I've been a fan of Corridor Digital for a while, so while this isn't from a movie, it's still movie based. Plus they've got companion videos to all their stuff that shows the process of making it, which is cool.

"Realistic" lightsaber fights.

I agree, it really encapsulates what the gentleman spy is all about!

One of my favorites is:

Much can be said about the prequels, but dangit they had some cool saber fighting.

Lol, this is like the exact opposite of what I posted, making lightsaber combat realistic.

Also, I think for lightsaber fights to be "realistic", they need to mimic Olympic fencing.
Yeah, probably for the lightness if it were an actual weapon.

I think stylistically Lucas wanted them to be like samurai, so I'd think treating them like katanas more accurate to that. Still a fairly light weapon compared to a broadsword with powerful swings.

Agree. I have completely lost track of the number of times I have watched the end fight sequences for Episode I and III. Episode II to a lesser extent, because no Duel of the Fates. And I love that piece of music.
