They are doing the born again comic arc which is its own story-line separate from what Netflix did, and its supposed to take place years after the Netflix story. They are reusing cast and characters from the Netflix show too, so it feels like a continuation in that sense. Fisk, Punisher, Foggy, and Karen are all the original cast.

I guess what I was asking is if the events of Netflix are canon to born again

Nah. Its more like a soft reboot rather than a direct continuation. Elements may feel familiar and some past events might be referenced, but it's not necessarily bound by everything that happened in the Netflix series

Everything I've seen so far has made me excited. The teasers didn't seem to be pulling their punches, literally. They were all pretty bloody, didn't seem to be cutting away from broken bones, etc.

From what I've caught of production, they're largely filming in NYC, not just on sound stages or bluescreens. I think it's going to feel more grounded than a lot of the other Disney stuff by virtue of that.

Plus carrying forward the spot-on casting works. Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio and Jon Bernthal all seem like they were made for those roles.

it's in the trailer but just in case
in the trailer it shows Fisk in front of the blank picture with the blood stain in the corner from the series finale. also Bullseye is in jail, and Punisher is gonna be in it so yes it is a direct continuation

I am looking forward to this. I have watched very little television in the past year, but I didn't manage to finish the Netflix Marvel series when I went through a spate of watching them a couple of years ago, so I'm happy to be able to pick this up and watch without seeing the original season 3. I agree with what's been said; everything so far makes me optimistic for this.

I really enjoyed the almost unrelated prequel -- Echo!

I didn't watch all of the Defender stuff on Netflix so I was curious to see if how lost I would be starting Born Again. I think it's been fine so far.

but also WHAT THE FUCK why did they do that to Foggy??? Uuuuggghhh

To make you feel like that.

I was very much thinking "wow, Foggy got a glow up", which lasted all of 10 minutes or whatever.

I do wonder what I missed having not watched Punisher or much of Defenders. Mainly the Bullseye stuff. Pretty obvious Frank Castle is going to be in it, given the end of episode 2.
