Multi At what age did you get into gaming?

As the title says, at what age did you get into gaming?

For me, I didn't really get obsessed with gaming until I was around 12. I started playing Pokémon Blue on my Gameboy Color and got pretty obsessed over it. I beat the game many times and played some of the sequels on GameBoy Advanced, up until I started playing Final Fantasy X on the PS2.

It was probably around 5 or 6.

That was around the time I started to love RPGs, even if looking back I didn't quite understand the story fully.

As early on as I can remember? My dad had some early consoles, eventually a nes and a pc, a pinball machine, and a game cabinet at the house. He also (still) works as an electrician in an amusement park with arcades and whatnot, so I could always get free credits into those from him whenever we went there.

There was an Atari 7800 and an NES in the house before I was capable of forming lasting memories - which is very weird, actually, because my parents and grandparents have never been into video games and I'm the eldest child on this branch of the tree - so Mario, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, et al, have always been in the periphery of my earliest memories. Like waking up at 3AM seeing Super Mario Bros. 3 being played in the living room because I really, really wanted it and apparently my step-father couldn't wait until morning to see what the hype was about for himself. :giggle

But I usually either just say age 4, or I roll with 1/17/2002 - the day I bought my first consoles with my own money. The latter also works nicely because, prior to that, greater than 90% of my gaming was done exclusively through rentals.

Very, very early in life, maybe 5? Maybe even earlier? I don't honestly remember, but it's been ingrained in me for a long time. Good coping mechanism when you're young with no real outlets for issues. I don't game as much these days, sadly, but gaming will always be a part of my life as that needed stress relief.

My brother had an NES with Mario + Duck Hunt and Robin Hood. I think he had some other games too, but not sure what they were. These were the earliest games I ever remember playing.

He also had a Sega Genesis, and I spent a lotttttttt of time playing that thing -- we had the Sega Menacer, so I played a bunch of lightgun games, some Rampage, and I played a tonnnnnnnn of Ghostbusters and Gunstar Heroes. We had some weird ones too like TechnoCop and Flashback.

Eventually my brother picked up an SNES, and a friend lent him Mario RPG. I sunk more hours into that game as a kid than any other. I just loved it. My babysitter also had an SNES with Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Super Mario All-Stars, and Super Mario World, so I had plenty of opportunities to absolutely fall in love with great games as a kid.
