I don’t have words. I’ve seen him in half a dozen things and he is an incredible actor… and 61 is just so young. I haven’t seen anything indicating a cause of death yet

I read that he'd had a short illness but nothing more. Very sad.

9! 9!

This one hurts. He's long been a personal favorite of mine. His work on Homicide: Life on the Street was incredible and is the main reason a physical copy of that show is one of my white whales.

Every week or so there's a thread on Reddit asking which show you think got cancelled too soon. One that I never see mentioned but always comes to my mind was his show Thief that only lasted half a season but was a showcase of great acting, and Braugher lead the show with his immense talent.

He was the only reason I gave Brooklyn Nine Nine a shot, out of morbid curiosity as to how he would perform in a straight up silly comedy. I shouldn't have been so surprised that he absolutely crushed the role, and over time grew into it more and more, arguably becoming the funniest damn character.

To add to all of that, he was an underrated voice actor and I will always associate his voice with that of DC's Darkseid.

This sucks.

The role he portrayed, the way he did it, and the way he delivered that speech of being a gay black man?

Fucking legendary.
