not trueMets are finished.
I have my doubts about the Mets winning. It'd be so typical of them to be knocked out of a playoff spot at the last minute. They're infamous for these kind of late season collapses.not true
Braves are have no reason to try in game 2 if they win game 1.
Royals and Mets have chance to have a rematch from the '15 world series not gonna happen but if it does Mets gotta finish the storyGo Royals! Would have much preferred to play Cleveland than New York in the ALDS, but it would be great to even get there.
Respectfully, I would be hoping for the same ending to that story.Royals and Mets have chance to have a rematch from the '15 world series not gonna happen but if it does Mets gotta finish the story
well fortunately the Mets don't have Yoenis, Daniel, and Lucas to forget how to field during the world series this time so hopefully that would mean a different endingRespectfully, I would be hoping for the same ending to that story.
Good point. Well, we don't have to worry about that, now do we? And when our teams (and the Tigers, sorry @Rick52 ) are promptly eliminated this week the three of us will at least be able to commiserate.well fortunately the Mets don't have Yoenis, Daniel, and Lucas to forget how to field during the world series this time so hopefully that would mean a different ending
If the Yankees happen to lose to Baltimore, we need a "Fuck you, Baltimore" parody featuring the Yankees. That would be so totally rad.As long as the Yankees and Dodgers lose, i don't care.
No worries because I cannot predict how they will play regardlessGood point. Well, we don't have to worry about that, now do we? And when our teams (and the Tigers, sorry @Rick52 ) are promptly eliminated this week the three of us will at least be able to commiserate.
@Fool's Requiem @Quagmire @shortkut Any worry about the Guardians and Yankees gathering rust from waiting to see who their opponents will be?
Do we have any other members with rooting interests that I'm forgetting off the top of my head?
Rust isn't an issue. Poor starting rotation, inconsistent offensive performance, and poor performance against good teams are the concerns.Good point. If we score a few runs and avoid allowing many before the bullpen enters the games, we should be good. Just need to avoid over using Clase like we did with Andrew Miller in 2016.We are just a big group of optimists in this thread.
More so worry about our lack of hitting depth, it's what killed is the last 4 years, losing like 2-1@Fool's Requiem @Quagmire @shortkut Any worry about the Guardians and Yankees gathering rust from waiting to see who their opponents will be?

Having been to every stadium outside Yankee in the AL East, I can assure you that every stadium in the AL East will have at least one instance of "Fuck the Yankees" during each game, regardless of whether the Yankees are playing.Come to Baltimore some time, then. I’ve seen “fuck the Yankees” chants start up in a section when they weren’t even playing because of some dude’s jersey choice. We don’t play with NYY down here.

Hell, I'm sure Yankee stadium has that too.
I know someone who was kicked out of Fenway like 15+ years ago for chanting “let’s go Yankees” during a Red Sox/Indians game
Heat of their rivalry, yep, this happened a lot. but it's usually because it started a physical altercation.I know someone who was kicked out of Fenway like 15+ years ago for chanting “let’s go Yankees” during a Red Sox/Indians game
From the story she told me, there was no physical altercations, just people complaining to security and foul language thrown in her directionHeat of their rivalry, yep, this happened a lot. but it's usually because it started a physical altercation.
This is pre 2004. David Ortiz became a god.I remember being in Boston with friends at various times from the ages of 9-15 wearing Yankees hats/shirts and grown ass adults would curse us out. All it would take was a small chant of “1918” for their faces to turn dark red and for them them to get irrationally angry. Good times
Steroids, the new ambrosiaThis is pre 2004. David Ortiz became a god.
That's fair. I wasn't referring to that specific incident, but typically, the Yankee fan was doing it to some die hard fan and it caused fights. From the story she told me, there was no physical altercations, just people complaining to security and foul language thrown in her direction
Yeah, but you guys are back to the bottom of the division, so all is right with the worldThat's fair. I wasn't referring to that specific incident, but typically, the Yankee fan was doing it to some die hard fan and it caused fights.
It was usually the Bostonian who started it, not the Yankee fan. Doesn't hit as hard since 2004.

Hey, they finished 3rd, didn't they?Yeah, but you guys are back to the bottom of the division, so all is right with the world
I’ve never had any issues with orioles’ fans. They’ve always been respectful and seemed more like baseball fans than psychopaths like they are in Boston or PhillyThat’s the stuff I don’t like, man. I’ve seen it at O’s games a lot, Baltimore fans are ruthless and don’t give a shit if you’re from out of town with your family. I will say, the O’s fans are much more behaved when it comes to that kind of shit than the Ravens fans. Football brings the failed high school athlete out of every beer-bellied dipshit. You can’t even go to a Ravens game as a Baltimoron without the potential for getting into it with someone.
I went to Baltimore when I was a teen for a game because they were playing regular season finale series against the O's and that never happened. So my parents drove to Baltimore and we watched 3 of the 4 games that weekend. It was before the Orioles were better...That’s the stuff I don’t like, man.
